A Masonic Lodge of Instruction (LOI) is a regular meeting—separate from a formal Lodge meeting—where Freemasons practise their ritual, learn symbolism, and develop understanding of Masonic traditions in a relaxed, instructional environment.
A Lodge of Instruction keeps a Lodge alive and functioning smoothly.
Benefits include:
- Stronger ritual quality
- Better-prepared officers
- More confident members
- Preservation of tradition
- A deeper understanding of Masonry’s philosophical teachings
Many say the real learning in Freemasonry happens at LOI.
Who can attend?
- Junior Brethren
- Officers
- Past Masters
- Any Lodge member (or members of other Lodges that do not have an LOI) wishing to improve or learn more
Attendance is encouraged but usually not compulsory.
Our Lodge of Instruction meets weekly, every Wednesday at the 8th Bexleyheath Scout Hall, 32 Westbrooke Road, Welling DA16 1PR.

While the LOI meets in Welling, the Lodge itself meets at:
The Masonic Hall, London Road, Greenhithe, Kent, DA9 9DA.
