Peter J J Smith

Worshipful Master

The office of Worshipful Master is one of honour, responsibility, and service. It is not a permanent position, but one traditionally held for a single year. During that year, the Worshipful Master presides over the lodge, guiding its work and caring for its members.

At the conclusion of the term, the Worshipful Master is formally replaced at an Installation Meeting, where a successor is invested with the authority of the office. This practice reflects the Masonic belief that leadership is a trust, carried for a season, and then passed on so that the lodge may continue to grow and endure beyond any one individual.

Worshipful Brother Peter Smith is the current Worshipful Master of North Kent Lodge No. 2499, where he is widely respected for his steady leadership, dedication to the Craft, and longstanding commitment to the traditions and values of Freemasonry.

Throughout his Masonic journey, W. Bro. Smith has demonstrated a deep appreciation for ritual excellence and the philosophical teachings at the heart of the Order. His progression through the offices of the Lodge has been marked by reliability, discipline, and a sincere willingness to support and encourage his fellow Brethren. As Worshipful Master, W. Bro. Smith brings a calm, measured approach to governance, with a focus on harmony, participation, and strengthening the bonds of brotherhood within North Kent Lodge No. 2499. His year in the Chair embodies his belief in service, humility, and the continued development of the Lodge and its members.
